Boundary District Arts Council 2011-2012 Performance Series

Series passes now available for Performances the whole family can enjoy.
The Boundary District Arts Council has pulled together a top-notch 2011-2012 Performance Series featuring exceptional Canadian talent in programs the whole family will enjoy - from bluegrass music, to Russian Gypsy dance, soul-stirring wind instrumentation, and magic.

Up first - John Reischman and the Jaybirds take centre stage on Thursday, October 20 at 7:30 p.m. Each of these ‘birds’ from the contemporary West Coast acoustic music scene, has certainly earned their wings. You’ll hear mandolin, guitar, fiddle, banjo and bass, with a blend of story-telling and side-show humour. The Jays deliver a truly fresh blend of original and old-time heritage bluegrass music. On Saturday, November 12, the Roma Gry Gypsy Dance Group, Russian dancers and musicians based in Vancouver, present an exotic evening to remember as they dance in their colourful traditional Gypsy costumes, invite audience participation, and tell fortunes – around simulated campfires. Pentaedre - five daring, diverse , brilliantly talented musicians and recording artists - has toured Europe and North America for 25 years and now visits Grand Forks on Thursday, January 26. With bassoon, flute, clarinet, horn and oboe this unique musical ensemble performs classical wind music that soothes the soul. (www.pentaedre.com)

Closing the season on Thursday, March 1, there’s stunning magic, side-splitting humour and illusion in a fast-paced and hilarious show from Murray Hatfield and Teresa. For over two decades they have toured the world thrilling audiences as they blend music, dance, drama, storytelling, interactive comedy and incredible illusion. (www.murrayhatfield.com)
